Kwara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has congratulated one of its members and the Publisher of RoyalNews Online, Dr AbdulAzeez Arowona, on the official unveiling of his radio station, Emirate 98.5 FM, Ilorin, slated for (today) Thursday, January 1, 2026.
This was contained in a statement jointly signed by the Chairman of the Union, ‘Lanre Ahmed Abdullateef, and the Secretary, Mahmood Olayinka Alaya, in which the Council applauded the founder’s remarkable contributions to the media industry and journalism practice in Kwara State and beyond.
The NUJ described the establishment of Emirate 98.5 FM as a significant milestone that reflects Arowona’s foresight, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to media development.
The Union noted that the new radio station would serve as a vital platform for credible information dissemination, public enlightenment, cultural promotion, and community engagement.
While commending Arowona, who is the Press Secretary to the Emir of Ilorin, the Union emphasized that the media outfit would create employment opportunities for journalists and other media professionals, and boost the socio-economic development of the state.
The statement pledged the full support and cooperation of NUJ members toward the success of Emirate 98.5 FM, expressing confidence that the station would uphold the ethics of the journalism profession while educating, entertaining, and informing the populace.
