Legal Luminary, Professor Yusuf Ola Olu Ali has advocated honest recruitment of leadership in Nigeria.
Professor Ola Olu Ali who is the Proprietor of Ghalib Chambers, Ilorin dropped this hint while delivering a lecture on the topic ” Sensitizing Democratic Rule in Nigeria from Islamic Perspective” at the ongoing Ramadan Lecture Series, organized by Islamic Missionaries Association of Nigeria IMAN in Ilorin
Represented by a Legal Practitioner Taofiq Olateju, Professor Ola Olu Ali identified irrational electoral process as a perennial method of recruiting awful leaders in the land.
He condemned the gross abuse of oath of allegiance and swearing with holy books without strict adherence to their teachings by the politicians.
Professor Ola Olu Ali therefore charged people in positions of authority to demonstrate political will to reform the Nation’s electoral process to produce credible leaders.
In his contribution, Chairman of the occasion, Alhaji Abdullahi Ayodele Garba called for people-centred government passionate about welfare of the downtrodden.
Other participants at the lecture described Nigerian leaders as bunch of selfish people who prioritize their own jumbo pay at the expense of the suffering masses.
Meanwhile, the lecture continues today with the topic ” Status Woman in Islam” to be delivered by Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria FOMWAN, Kwara State Chapter.
