Ilorin-based Islamic Scholar, Professor Sayouti Shuaib Ologele has condemned incessant retaliatory abusive sermons among religious leaders in the society.
Professor Ologele who is of the Department of Arabic, Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin made this known while delivering a lecture at the Closing Ceremony of Annual Ramadan Musabaqqoh organized by League of Qur’an Memorizers, Kwara State.
He described abusive sermons as embarrassing and total demonstration of ignorance of Islamic teachings built on knowledge and peaceful coexistence.
Professor Ologele maintained that there are plathora of issues to be treated to correct social ills in the society and islamic propagation instead of altercation.
He cautioned Islamic Scholars to refrain from hurling derogatory utterances against one another and always imbibe spirit of patience as demonstrated by Prophet Muhammad.
Chairman of the Occasion, Vice Chancellor, Kwara State University Malete, Professor Shaikh Lukman Jimoh applauded the Qur’an members and encouraged them to sustain their memorization effortlessly.
Represented by Uthman Adam of Economics and Development Studies of Department of the institution, the Vice Chancellor tasked Muslim parents not to relent in allowing their children learn and memorize the glorious Qur’an to earn Allah’s mercy on earth and hereafter.
In his remarks, President League of Qur’an Memorizers Abdul-lateef Sulaiman Al-Offawiy applauded Qur’an Committee for its doggedness in grooming younger ones in Qur’an memorization.
He said the role of League of Qur’an Memorizers is to complement Kwara State Committee on National Qur’an Recitation Competition to raise retinue of Qur’an to represent Kwara State in State National and international Competition.
In his goodwill message on behalf Kwara State Committee on National Qur’an Recitation Committee, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi acknowledged sterling contributions of League of Qur’an Memorizers in turning out Qur’an Memorizers representing the state locally and internationally.
Meanwhile, Abdulrahman Abdulafeez has emerged overall winner of this year’s Annual Ramadan Musabaqqoh Organized by League of Qur’an Memorizers Kwara State.
Abdulrahman Abdulafeez defeated his closest challenger Kamil Faisoh Bello who secured second position while Abdulrahman Abdulgafar clinched third position.
Highpoints of event were recitation of glorious Qur’an exhibition, presentation of gifts to the winners and other participants.
