Chairman, Ilorin Emirate Staff Association, Kwara State University (IESA-KWASU), Professor Ibrahim Laro Abubakar has congratulated Dr. Khafayat Yetunde Olatinwo on appointment as Adjoint Fellow of the African Space Leadership Institute (ASLI).

The Association in a Congratulatory Message by its General Secretary, Dr. Abdullahi Bakare said Khafayat Olatinwo is an Associate Professor of Law at Kwara State University, specialising in space security, legal regimes governing outer space operations, and mechanisms for resolving disputes relating to space.

Professor Abubakar noted that the Honouree leads by contributing to policy-oriented research projects targeted at developing strategic frameworks for Nigeria’s space policy, while on a continental level, her research engages issues of fairness, sustainability, and access within the global space order with particular attention to the position of emerging space nations in Africa.

By the dual role, she becomes a global academic champion in the context of Nigeria’s space policy and in advancing Africa’s participation in the global space economy, shaping extraterrestrial governance destiny.

Consequently, Dr. Olatinwo takes the lead as the Vice-President of the Space Law and Arbitration Association and as a member of the International Institute of Space Law (IISL).

The Ilorin Emirate Staff Association, Kwara State University (IESA-KWASU), believes that Dr. Olatinwo’s current roles as the Head, Department of Jurisprudence and Public Law in KWASU, Vice-President of an African association and member of the International Institute of Space Law (IISL), provides verifiable institutional proof of her status as a global champion.

He said she performs the three irreducible functions of a global champion in space law: aggregating regional voice, translating local knowledge into global norms, and institutionalising capacity for enduring continental impact.

Dear Dr. Khafayat Yetunde Olatinwo, IESA-KWASU stands with you as you continue to prove that the pen is as mighty as the rocket that defies gravity’s hold.

Professor Abubakar urged her to Keep drafting, translating and shaping the cosmos as the next and greatest frontier for global governance by humanity.
