President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Engineer Jani Ibrahim, has called on Nigeria and China to fast-track plans for direct flights between both countries.

A Statement by the National Public Relations Officer of NACCIMA, Mrs Medinat Adigun-Oladotun said Engineer Ibrahim made plea while Speaking at the NACCIMA Business and Investment Forum in Guangzhou on April 29, 2026.

The NACCIMA President explained that direct air links would cut travel time, reduce the stress of stopovers, and improve connectivity.

According to him, the move would increase trade volumes and strengthen economic ties.

Engineer Ibrahim described Nigeria-China relations as long-standing and built on mutual respect and complementary strengths.

He said NACCIMA is ready to work with the Nigerian government and other stakeholders to make direct flights a reality.

He also welcomed China’s zero-tariff policy on imports from African countries, noting that it would help boost Nigeria’s non-oil exports and deepen trade integration with support from the Nigerian Export Promotion Council.

The forum, held on the sidelines of the 139th Canton Fair, brought together Chinese investors and Nigerian delegates for sector-focused partnerships.

It was organized in collaboration with the China Chamber of International Commerce Guangzhou, and ended with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding to make the event an annual platform for Nigeria-China cooperation.

The NACCIMA delegation toured major Chinese firms, including Wanli Tire Corporation Limited, Guangda Shoes Factory, and Guangzhou Autoworld Export Base, to explore opportunities for industrial partnerships, technology transfer, and investment.

The delegation participated in the 139th Canton Fair, one of the world’s largest trade fairs.
