The Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON), Kwara State Chapter, has appointed renowned sports journalist and media practitioner, Sodeeq Adebara, as its new Media Coordinator.
In an appointment letter dated June 30, 2026, and signed by the YSFON Secretary, Ayinde Wahab, the State Executive Committee (SEC) announced that Adebara’s appointment takes immediate effect.
According to the letter, the appointment was approved in recognition of Adebara’s extensive experience and professionalism in sports journalism and media relations.
It noted that he was carefully selected to fill the vacant position of Media Coordinator of what it described as Nigeria’s oldest grassroots youth sports development organisation.
As Media Coordinator, Adebara will be responsible for publicising the activities of YSFON across various media platforms, serving as a liaison between YSFON, members of the press and the general public, while also providing strategic advice to the executive committee on media and organisational development.
The appointment letter further expressed confidence in his ability to strengthen the federation’s public image and communication efforts while congratulating him on the new role and expressing optimism that he would accept the offer.
Adebara, a respected member of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kwara State Chapter, and the association’s Assistant Secretary, has built a reputation for promoting grassroots sports through quality sports journalism and media engagement. His appointment is expected to boost the visibility of YSFON’s youth development programmes and competitions across the state.
Adebara, who works with Harmony FM Idofian, a station under the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), succeeds the late veteran sports journalist, Yusuf Feruke, who passed away last year.
Presenting the letter of appointment to Adebara, the Chairman of Kwara SWAN, Mallam Ayodeji Ismail, described the appointment as well deserved, noting that Adebara’s commitment, professionalism and passion for grassroots sports development made him a fitting choice for the position.
Ismail expressed confidence that Adebara would justify the confidence reposed in him by the YSFON leadership, adding that the appointment is a recognition not only of his individual excellence but also of the quality and impact of sports journalism in Kwara State.
He wished him a successful tenure and urged him to continue using the media as a tool for the growth and development of grassroots sports.
