The Aminisa Snooker Club League (ASCL) has successfully commenced competitive league action with the staging of its Inaugural Official Match Day, marking another historic milestone in what is widely recognised as Kwara State’s first professionally organised grassroots snooker league.

The opening fixtures, held on Friday, 10 July 2026, at Mix & Mingle Lounge, Palms Mall, Fate Road, Ilorin, officially signalled the beginning of a new era for organised cue sports in Kwara State, following the successful public launch of the League on 3 July 2026.

Organised by Aminisa Sports, the sports development division of Aminisa Dynasty Concept Ltd (RC 8100400), the League has been established to revolutionise grassroots cue sports by creating a professionally managed ecosystem that promotes youth empowerment, talent identification, entrepreneurship, healthy recreation, community engagement, sports tourism, social inclusion, innovation and sustainable economic development.

The League represents one of the flagship initiatives of Aminisa Sports towards repositioning Kwara State as Nigeria’s foremost destination for grassroots cue sports excellence.

The successful commencement of league competition follows the official inauguration of the League, which received the endorsement and support of the Executive Governor of Kwara State, His Excellency Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, represented by the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Coach Bolakale Adisa Mogaji.

During the official launch, the Governor described the League as a welcome development capable of engaging young people positively while promoting grassroots sports development throughout the State.

He further encouraged the organisers to extend organised snooker to secondary schools, tertiary institutions and communities while maintaining discipline and ensuring that the sport remains free from betting.

The League also received commendation from the National Orientation Agency (NOA), the Ilorin Emirate, traditional leaders, sports administrators, corporate stakeholders and members of the public who described the initiative as timely and transformational.

The League has continued to attract significant public attention through extensive media coverage by The Herald Newspaper, Radio Nigeria Harmony FM, Radio Kwara, Daily Source, PristineGist, and several online media platforms, reflecting the increasing acceptance and popularity of organised cue sports within Kwara State.

Before the commencement of the opening fixtures, Founder and League Commissioner, Ameenullah Abolaji Issa, formally declared the Inaugural Official Match Day open.

Addressing players, officials and spectators, he described the occasion as the practical beginning of a vision that extends far beyond sporting competition.

“Today represents the beginning of a movement that seeks to redefine grassroots sports development in Kwara State and Nigeria. The Aminisa Snooker Club League is more than a competition; it is a platform for discovering talent, empowering young people, promoting discipline, strengthening communities and creating sustainable opportunities through sport. We remain committed to professionalism, fairness, innovation and excellence as we build a sporting institution that generations will be proud of.”

He reaffirmed that Aminisa Sports remains committed to complementing government efforts through strategic Public-Private Partnerships capable of delivering measurable social and economic impact.

The inaugural competition featured twelve registered players competing across six official league fixtures.

Unlike conventional local competitions, the Aminisa Snooker Club League adopts an innovative Best-of-Five Frame competition format designed to comprehensively evaluate players’ technical ability, tactical awareness and adaptability.

Each match consists of:

* Two Highest Pot frames;
* Two Ball-on-Ball frames; and
* A deciding fifth frame, where necessary, with the playing format determined through a coin toss.

The format encourages versatility while rewarding consistency across different styles of play.
