Chairman of Stafolga Group and FlowFM 92.7, Femi Sanni, popularly known as Araba, has called for urgent reforms to strengthen Nigeria’s subnational institutions.
Sanni made the remark via a statement he released from London where he attended the Nigeria–UK Business Forum at Marlborough House, held as part of activities surrounding the state visit of Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the United Kingdom.
He said recent events back home underscore the need for a more responsive governance structure.
Araba is one of the business men and policy wonks who attended the crucial event where discussions at the forum focused on deepening trade and economic cooperation, developments in Nigeria.
Araba spoke about the recent bombings in Maiduguri highlighted the urgency of getting governance right at all levels.
According to him, the Country’s development and security challenges require a deliberate shift toward empowering states and local governments.
He referenced the ruling of the Supreme Court of Nigeria on local government autonomy, urging full implementation, while also acknowledging reform efforts by the Tinubu administration.
Sanni expressed confidence that with the right mindset and focus, Nigeria’s sub-national institutions can drive meaningful transformation.
