Nigeria-China Trade Gets Boost As NACCIMA Signs Key MoU With CCOIC In Guangzhou

Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) has successfully signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the China Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC) Guangzhou, opening a new chapter in the longstanding history of bilateral relations between the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the People’s Republic of China.

The historic MoU signing took place on the sidelines of the NACCIMA Business and Investment Forum, which held on Wednesday, 29th of April 2026, at the Crowne Plaza Window of Canton Hotel in Guangzhou.

With the MoU, the NACCIMA Business and Investment Forum will now be sustained as a bigger and bolder annual platform to matchmake Nigerian and Chinese businesses.

Hundreds of investors and business leaders from both Nigeria and China came together at this recent edition of the forum to explore opportunities for strategic partnerships, technology transfer, technical and financial support, amongst others.

Some of the priority sectors touched at the event which aimed to connect Nigerian businesses to global opportunities for the purpose of industrial growth and economic development include mining, agricultural mechanization, industrial park development and management, agro-processing and food value chains, and so on.

The high-level business gathering was witnessed by the Consul-General of the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Guangzhou, Amb. Mairo Musa Abbas, and top officials of the consulate office.

Also present at the event were the National President of NACCIMA, Engr. Jani Ibrahim; the Vice President of CCPIT Guangzhou, Mr. Huang Xiaofeng; President of CONSCCIMA and Chairman Nigeria Commodity Exchange Board, Alhaji Dalhatu Abubakar; President of ILECCIMA, Mr. Peterson Timothy; NACCIMA China Relations Executive, Arc. Zakirudeen Oladotun; representative of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC); Li Yuchen of the Corporate Banking Department, China Merchants Bank, Guangzhou, Huanshi Sub-branch; first Deputy President, Borno Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (BOCCIMA); among other dignitaries.

Speaking at the event, NACCIMA National President emphasised that Nigeria remains the go-to country in Africa for Chinese investors considering its large population, expansive market and huge potential.

Engr. Jani Ibrahim said NACCIMA stands ready to help Chinese investors understand the Nigerian business terrain in order to make informed decisions and fruitful investment choices.

The NACCIMA President commended the zero-tarrif policy of the Chinese government, describing it as a game-changer for bilateral relations and economic cooperation between Nigeria and China.

He, meanwhile, appealed to the relevant government bodies to accelerate the frameworks for a direct flight between Nigeria and China, noting that the traffic is there for the route.

Earlier in her remarks, the Consul-General said Nigeria and China share a long history of relations and economic cooperation. She noted that the consulate office in Guangzhou will always be supportive of initiatives that seek to deepen the relations between the two countries.

Amb. Mairo Abbas invited the Chinese investors to see Nigeria as one of their preferred investment destinations, reeling out investment-friendly policies of the current government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

Vice President of CCPIT Guangzhou Huang Xiaofeng lauded NACCIMA for the well-thought-out initiative, pledging continued support for efforts aimed at promoting industry, trade and commerce between the two countries.

Participants had a breakout session where industry-specific matchmaking and discussions were held, raising hopes for a renewed Nigeria-China economic cooperation.
