Lawmaker representing Kwara Central Senatorial District, Senator Saliu Mustapha, has commended President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for approving the construction of the Oko-Olowo Junction Flyover in Kwara State.
The project, valued at N21 billion, is among the 27 road projects approved by President Tinubu across 15 states as part of the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening road infrastructure and improving connectivity nationwide.
Senator Mustapha, in a statement issued by his Media Assistant, Nasif Sholagberu, described the approval as a timely intervention that will significantly improve road safety, ease traffic congestion, and boost economic activities along the busy corridor.
The lawmaker noted that the approval is particularly gratifying, recalling that on November 26, 2024, he moved a motion on the floor of the Senate calling for the urgent construction of a flyover at the Oko-Olowo Junction due to the recurring accidents and traffic challenges at the location.
He further recalled that he subsequently engaged the Minister of Works, David Umahi, and the Minister of State for Works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, to advocate for the project.
Senator Mustapha expressed appreciation to Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his responsiveness to the aspirations of the people and his commitment to delivering critical infrastructure across the country.
He also commended the Federal Ministry of Works for its efforts in ensuring the approval of the project and expressed optimism that its timely execution would bring lasting benefits to motorists, residents, and the people of Kwara State at large.
