In a bold demonstration of its unwavering commitment to grassroots sports development and youth empowerment, the Kwara State Sports Commission has announced the commencement of the 8th Edition of the Kwara State Sports Festival, scheduled to hold from August 21st to August 29th, 2026, in Ilorin.
The highly anticipated multi-sport fiesta, widely regarded as the state’s premier sporting event, will feature athletes from all 16 Local Government Areas, competing across a wide range of sporting disciplines in a celebration of talent, unity, and excellence.
Described as a cornerstone of Kwara’s sports development strategy, the festival is expected to attract hundreds of athletes, coaches, and sports enthusiasts, serving as a critical platform for discovering and nurturing the next generation of champions who will represent the state on national and international stages.
Speaking on the significance of the event, the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Mallam Bolakale Adisa Mogaji, emphasized the transformative impact of the festival:
Mallam Mogagi said the Kwara State Sports Festival remains a vital tool for talent identification, youth engagement, and social integration.
According to him, this 8th edition will not only showcase the abundance of sporting talent across the local government areas but will also reinforce our commitment to building a sustainable sports ecosystem in line with the vision of His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
He further assured stakeholders of a well-coordinated and hitch-free event, noting that comprehensive preparations are already underway to deliver a festival that meets national standards in organization, officiating, and athlete welfare.
