NUJ Media Parliament: Ifelodun Chair Confirms Return Of Safety To Babanla, Alabe, Others

Executive Chairman, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, Hajji Abdurasheed Femi Yusuf has confirmed the returned of safety to Babanla, Babasango, Alabe Oreke and other troubled parts of the Local Government ravaged by banditry attacks.

Hajji Femi Yusuf made the confirmation while featuring on the 49th Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Kwara State Council Media Parliament themed ” Grassroots Governance: Reasserting Local Government Administration In Kwara.

Hajji Femi Yusuf said the success of  safety was recorded through the joint efforts of all the tiers of government as some of the pocket of the attacks were aided through disgruntled elements of informants particularly the Fulanis and the locals.

He described security as a primary responsibility of the people and urged them to always report strange movements to the security agents to forestall unforseen circumstances.

The Chairman reaffirmed that security remains major priority of his administration as Ifelodun Local Government is geographically large with several rural and forest communities.

Hajji Femi Yusuf commended Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and the federal government for their interventions towards restoring peace to the affected areas.

In his Opening Address, NUJ Chairman, Kwara State Council, Mallam Abdul-lateef Olanrewaju Ahmed said the focus of this 49th edition of the Media Parliament was both apt and timely, given the critical role of Local Government in the running of affairs at the grassroots.

Mallam Ahmed explained that as patriotic citizens who have followed the trend of governance in the country, they are not unaware that the current structure rests squarely on a tripod of federal, state, and local governments.

He pointed out that the Media Parliament offered the Guest Speaker the opportunity to speak on his experiences, the breakthroughs, the challenges, and the prospects in running Ifelodun Local Government Area over the last two years
