New Executive Members, International Federation of Women Lawyers, FIDA have been inaugurated
The Inauguration took place at the Bar Centre, Kwara State High Court, Ilorin on 10th December,2024.
In her Acceptance Speech, newly elected Chairperson, Mrs Funke Balogun promised to uphold the objectives of FIDA as contained in Article IV of the FIDA Branch Uniform bye law, 2020
Mrs Balogun said the objectives of the body such as promoting the study of comparative laws, principles and aims of the united nations and preserve the rights and welfare of women
According to her, through FIDA children would be allowed to realize their full potentials with free legal services counselling and Alternative Dispute Resolution services to indigent women and children
The Chairperson also vowed to follow the means of achieving the objectives as contained in section 5, Article IV such as engaging in sensitization, dissemination activities, advance all available opportunities for women in politics, civil, industrial and educational fields
She appreciated outgoing Chairperson for her exemplary leadership in piloting the activities of the association so far for the past four years and called on members to be supportive and dedicated to the course
In her Valedictory Remark, FIDA outgone Chairperson, Barrister Gloria,Otatade Okoduwa thanked members for the opportunity to serve among the learned colleagues despite her fears of leading women .
Barrister Okoduwa noted that Speak Out Programme for girls, outreaches, road walks, curbing of domestic violence, seminar with inmates in the Borstal home were organized in collaboration with National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Agency NDLEA as parts of FIDA activities under her watch
Meanwhile the high court judge ,Justice TS Umar sworn-in the newly State FIDA Executive Members which include Mrs Funke Balogun, Chairperson, Mrs Mojirola Ibiyemi, Vice Chairperson, Ms Tolulope Pelumi Oniyide, Secretary, Mrs Josephine Aransiola, Assistant Secretary, Mrs Anthonia Omehogoh Oshiniwe Treasurer ,Mrs Yusuf Rukayat Oluwaseyi, Financial Secretary
Others are Mrs Megida- Zulqurnain Aminat Publicity Secretary, Mrs Abimbola E. Babalola, Assistant Publicity Secretary and Mrs Mistura Mohammed- Yusuf, Welfare Secretary
