Al-Hikmah University Presents “Beyond Oil”Proposal To House of Reps Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas, Honours Him With Honorary Doctorate Degree

Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin has presented a proposal for a Round Table tagged “Beyond Oil” to the Speaker, House of Representatives, Mr Tajudeen Abbas geared towards addressing the daunting challenges bedeviling the Nation
Vice Chancellor of University, Professor Noah Yusuf made the presentation to the Speaker when the institution team was in his office on a ‘Thank You’ visit for delivering the University’s 14th Convocation Ceremony.
Professor Yusuf said the theme of Convocation Lecture titled, “Beyond Oil: Exploring Alternative Revenue Potentials for Economic Growth and Sustainable Development in Nigeria” aptly addressed the current economic situation in the country and future direction.
The Vice Chancellor threw a serious challenge to all stakeholders in Nigeria project to take the issue further beyond the university campus to the public space through a roundtable which would be anchored by relevant government functionaries, policymakers, experts in Economics and Public Finance as well as academia.
According to him, till today, the lecture has continued to receive positive reactions from the global academic community, relevant stakeholders of the national economy and the public.
Professor Yusuf noted that the visit was mainly to appreciate the Speaker’s distinguished personality for the honour done to the University and Kwara State.
The Vice-Chancellor said the lecture delivery by Speaker Abbas was meticulously done to the admiration of the audience.
He stated that the quality of the Convocation Lecture has been adjudged by scholars and researchers alike as rich and first rated
The Vice Chancellor pointed out that These records shall be preserved in the University for several years to come.
Also, Founder of Al-Hikmah University, Alhaji Abdulraheem Oladimeji expressed  gratitude to Speaker for delivering the Convocation Lecture despite not meeting him before.
He explained that if everybody is like the Speaker, House of Representatives, Nigeria will be better by 100 per cent.
Responding, the Speaker, Mr Tajudeen Abbas hailed the founder for establishing a University despite not having higher education.
Mr Abbass expressed happiness that the University found him worthy of an Honorary Doctorate in Public Administration.
The Speaker, Mr. Abbas Tajudeen was decorated with an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Public Administration by Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin.
The conferment of the Doctorate took place during the 14th Convocation Lecture of the institution and formally decorated in his office by the founder of the university, Alhaji Chief (Dr) Abdulraheem Oladimeji and the Vice Chancellor, Professor Noah Yusuf.
Speaker Abbas had on December 30, 2024, delivered the 14th Convocation Lecture of the Al-Hikmah University titled, ‘Beyond Oil: Exploring Alternative Revenue Potentials for Economic Growth and Sustainable Development in Nigeria.’
The Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Professor Lateef Folorunsho Oladimeji, was also in the delegation.
Al-Hikmah University delegation used the opportunity to robe the Speaker for his new doctorate.
