Senior Special Assistant to the Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq on Religion, Christian Affairs, Reverend Timothy Oluwagbemiga Akangbe has attributed the accelerated growth in the sports sector in Kwara state to the sterling leadership of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.
Reverend Akangbe stated this when he paid a visit to George Innih Stadium Complex, Ilorin.
Reverend Akangbe described Governor Abdulrazaq as a sports-loving man and former player who made the state proud in local and national sporting events.
He noted that the reward of players and athletes who won medals for the state in the Confederation Cup and National Sports Festival by the Governor few days ago is a manifestation of his passion for sports development in the State.
The Senior Special Assistant said his facility tour to the sport in the George Innih Stadium was a good outing as he had trained in the stadium as an athlete in the past.
Reverend Akangbe who was sportsman disclosed that his son is in Kwara State Football Academy towards grooming him to become a professional player.
He identified the stadium as standard, capable of hosting divergent sporting events compared to Lagos, Edo and Rivers State among others.
Earlier, the Senior Special Assistant paid a Courtesy Call on the Executive Chairman, Kwara State Sports Commission Mallam Bolakale Adisa Mogaji in his office.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor was conveyed round by the Stadium Manager, Mr Idowu Ayodeji.
