Kwara State Government has reiterated its commitment to supporting initiatives that address gender-based violence to safeguard the rights and dignity of young people in the State.
State Commissioner for Youth Development, Amb. Ndanusa Usman Shehu, made this known while receiving members of the Africa Rise Right Initiative (ARRI), a Gender-Based Violence (GBV) reporting system, during a courtesy visit to his office in Ilorin yesterday.
Amb. Ndanusa commended ARRI for its bold advocacy and technological approach to reporting GBV cases, noting that the initiative aligns with the Ministry’s drive to create a safer environment for youths, especially women and girls.
The Commissioner praised the Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq CON, for his unwavering stance against all forms of violence and his inclusive leadership, which continues to prioritize youth development, gender equality, and the protection of vulnerable groups in the State.
The Commissioner added that the current administration’s policies have laid a strong foundation for sustainable youth engagement and social protection.
He emphasized that the government will continue to welcome credible platforms that provide support and redress for victims of violence while empowering youths to speak up and take action against abuse.
In his remarks, the team lead of ARRI, Jimoh Muhammed Bawa, explained that the platform was designed to provide safe, fast, and anonymous reporting channels for survivors and witnesses of gender-based violence.
He expressed appreciation to the Commissioner for the Ministry’s readiness to partner in tackling GBV and reiterated the organization’s commitment to strengthening awareness, access to justice, and rehabilitation for victims across Kwara State.
