Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Coach Bolakale Adisa Mogaji, has described Kwara United’s narrow 3–4 defeat to Ghana’s Asante Kotoko in the CAF Confederation Cup first-leg clash as a fair result.
Coach Mogaji, in a statement issued by the Commission’s Press Secretary, Saheed Abdullahi, commended the ‘Harmony Boys’ for their resilience and spirited performance against the Ghanaian giants.
He expressed confidence in the team’s quality and urged the players to capitalize on the second-leg fixture in Abeokuta, Ogun State, next Sunday, to overturn the deficit and secure qualification.
According to him, Kwara United parades competent and experienced professionals.
He noted that the loss in Ghana was largely due to home advantage, but believed the boys have what it takes to bounce back strongly in Abeokuta.
The Executive Chairman also lauded Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for his unwavering support through physical presence in Ghana and described it as a major source of motivation for the team.
Coach Mogaji reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to ensuring Kwara United’s triumph in the return leg, charging the players to approach the game with determination and the winning mentality that defines champions.
