Law Officers Commence Warning Strike In Kwara

Law officers Association of Nigeria (LOAN), Kwara State Branch has commenced a 3-day warning strike in the state
The down tooling which started yesterday followed the emergency meeting of the Association on Friday 24th October 2025.
Chairman of the Association, Mrs Medinat Adebisi in a statement in Ilorin, lamented that government has not responded to their yearnings with respect to the 14-days notice of warning strike which lapsed.
She reiterated that the State government has not responded to their notice of strike and their demands has not been met, based on their request as highlighted in the 14-days ultimatum letter
The Chairman maintained that due to the inaction of government to their requests, members of the Association have resolved to embark on a 3days warning stike commencing on the 27th October 2025.
The demands of the law Officers include Payment of the outstanding 50% of the 2020 furniture allowance – ₦77,312,387.98, Payment of the 2024 furniture allowance – ₦154,211,476.72 (which was under-budgeted), Payment of 2024 and 2025 wardrobe allowances – ₦18,400,000.00.
Other demands are implementation of the harmonization of State Counsel with their Magistrate counterparts, particularly bridging the disparity in salaries, elongation of the retirement age to 65 years, Access to car loan facilities, upgrading of wardrobe allowance to ₦200,000.00.
The law officers also want the state government to provide Christmas and Ileya packages, improved working environment and conditions vis-a-vis adjustment of the entry point into service to Level 10 (as applicable in most states), provision of befitting and adequate office accommodation
The Legal Practitioners are also requesting for provision of functional toilet facilities, availability of essential working tools such as computers, printers, photocopiers, and stationery, restoration of training opportunities (both local and international) and restoration of monthly professional meetings.
