Seven Doors, the cinematic thriller produced by and starring Femi Adebayo, has emerged as the top contender at the 2025 Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards with a total of nine nominations.
The nominees for the 17th edition of the awards were announced on Monday at an unveiling ceremony in Lagos, featuring filmmakers, actors and creative executives.
The selection highlights films and performances that have stood out across the industry over the past year.
Close behind is Abanisete, produced by Ibrahim “Itele” Yekini, which secured eight nominations across major categories, reinforcing its strong impact within the indigenous film space.
Mercy Aigbe also features prominently this year, with her productions My Mother Is A Witch and Farmer’s Bride receiving seven and six nominations respectively, positioning her among the most recognised talents in both performance and production categories.
The awards ceremony, scheduled for December 14, 2025, will take place at the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
This year’s edition returns to Lagos with an added highlight: a Guinness World Record attempt for the longest red carpet, to be staged along the new Coastal Road.
The move aligns with Lagos’ growing prominence as a tourism, entertainment and creative hub under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration.
The unveiling also acknowledged the BON Awards’ continuity, having maintained an annual presence in the Nigerian film landscape for 17 consecutive years.
