Hajia Sherifat Toyin Abdulraheem, a trader at Mandate Market, Ilorin, has filed a cross complaint against her colleague in the market, one Hajia Azeezat Balogun, accusing her of criminal intimidation and causing nuisance among others.
The complaint, filed before the court, revealed that the complainant is one of the mandate market stakeholders and members of the mandate’s Mosque Committee, which the defendant allegedly trespassed on.
The complainant also revealed that when the defendant was cautioned for trespassing on the mosque land, she began making frivolous petitions to the police against Hajia Sherifat.
Counsel to the complainant, Barrister Ishiaq Arolahun, told the Court about the series of threats Hajia Azeezat has made against her client.
On his part, counsel to the defendant, Barrister Abdulrasaq Abdulrahman, urged the Court to admit his client to bail on liberal terms, as the alleged offences against her are ordinarily bailable.
However, the Presiding Magistrate, Jumoke Bello, who presided over the matter yesterday, admitted the defendant to N200,000 bail and two sureties in the like sum.
The judge said one of the sureties must be civil servant from level 10 and must swear to an affidavit of means while the matter was adjourned to 29th January, 2026.
It would be recalled that the defendant, Hajia Azeezat, had earlier accused the complainant through Direct Complaint of the same offences in the same court, claiming she defamed her character.
