IMAN LECTURE: Muslims Advised To Desist From Negative Use Of Social Media

Muslims have been advised to desist from negative use of social media to insulate them against the wrath of Almighty Allah
Ilorin-based Islamic Scholar, Uztaz Abdul-lateef Abdullahi gave the advice while delivering a lecture at the ongoing Ramadan Lecture Series organized by Islamic Missionaries Association of Nigeria IMAN in Ilorin.
Uztaz Abdullahi who is also a Legal Practitioner identified social media platforms such as Facebook, X, Whatsapp, Instagram, Tiktok among others as trials for Muslims to be cautious about.
He expressed concern on negative use of the platforms for peddling fake information and other forms of immorality and asked Muslims not to be carried away by its fantasies
Uztaz Abdullahi specifically charged parents and guardians to always monitor their children on the use of social media platforms to prevent them from going astray.
In his remark, Chairman of the occasion and Former Provost, Kwara State College of Nursing and Midwifery, Mallam Abubakar Imam encouraged Muslims to shun ignoble use of social media platforms to earn Allah’s mercy.
Also Guest of Honour and Lecturer in the Department of Islamic, Christian and Comparative Religious Studies, Kwara State University Malete, Dr Abdulkadir Zambaki described the lecture as thought provoking.
