Governing Council of Federal Polytechnic, Offa has granted provisional approval for the appointment of Mrs. Ruth Chinomso Bassey as Head, the Polytechnic Library, pending ratification by the Council.
A Statement by the Head, Public Relations Unit of the Polytechnic, Mrs. Esther Folake Oyinloye, said the appointment of Ruth Chinomso Bassey Mrs is effective from Monday, 29th July, 2024, until a substantive Polytechnic Librarian is appointed.
As contained in her appointment letter signed by the Registrar, Mr. G.O. Soko; she is to ensure the smooth operation of the Polytechnic Library, prepare the Library budget; establish policies for Library exchanges, as well as maintain personal contacts and liaison with Departments and perform other duties as may be assigned by the Rector.
Mrs.Ruth Chinomso Bassey was born on 20th April 1985. After her secondary education, she proceeded to Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, where she obtained a Bachelor of Education in Library and Information Science (BLIS) Degree in 2011.
She bagged a Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) Degree from the University of Ilorin in 2023 and currently pursuing a Ph.D. Degree in the same course at Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin.
She is a registered Member of the Nigeria Library Association (NLA), Certified Librarian of Nigeria (CLN) and Member, Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).
She joined the services of the Polytechnic in 2015 as Librarian II, and rose through the ranks to become Senior Librarian in 2021.
Mrs. Ruth Chinomso Bassey has authored and co-authored numerous academic works, published several journals (local and international), seminars, term papers, and attended many conferences (local and international).
