NALVEJ, NIPR, ACF Congratulate Kwara NUJ Chairman, Ahmed, Others
The League of Veteran Journalists (NALVEJ) in Kwara State, Nigeria Institute of Public Relations( NIPR) and Arewa Consultative Forum(ACF) have hailed the re- election of AbdulLateef Lanre Ahmed as the chairman of the Kwara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists.
Ahmed was on Wednesday elected for a second term of office by his colleagues during a peaceful election supervised by officials from the national secretariat of NUJ in Abuja. He scored 100 votes to beat his opponent, Dare Akogun who scored 51 votes.
Other officials elected alongside Ahmed are Binta Mora (vice chairman), Yinka Alaya( secretary), Bushra Badmus( treasurer) and Medina Belgore( financial secretary).
In his acceptance speech, Ahmed promised to consolidate on the gains of his first term of office which were the reason he was re-elected by his colleagues with overwhelming majority votes.
In a congratulatory message signed by its chairman, Alh Tunde Akanbi, NALVEJ rejoiced with Ahmed and other elected officials over their well-deserved victory at the poll.
The league implored Ahmed to continue to prioritise the welfare of all journalists in the state and ensure harmonious relationship with every segment of the society, including government, traditional rulers, security agencies and the general populace.
It thanked journalists in the state for their orderly conduct during the election and praised the AbdulHammed Alaye- led credentials committee and NUJ national officials that supervised the election for a job well done.
The Kwara State chapter of ACF in a congratulatory message signed by its chairman, Dr Ghali Alaaya, rejoiced with Ahmed over his re- election for a second term of office.
The ACF praised Ahmed for ensuring stability in the union and the state through his matured handling of issues.
It prayed Allah to grant the NUJ chairman and his team a successful reign and more accomplishments.
Also,the Kwara State chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) congratulated Ahmed on his his reelection.
It described Ahmed’s victory as a popular validation of the acceptance of his person and leadership to continue to serve.
The NIPR statement was jointly signed by its chairman, Mr Gabriel Ogunade and secretary, Mr Abdul Rahman Sanni.
The NIPR expressed confidence in the ability of the renewed leadership to continue to move the state council of the NUJ to greater height, going by his pedigree and achievements.
It also felicitated with other members of the new executive, over their victory at the poll.
The statement which called for a more united and vibrant NUJ in the state, enjoined media practitioners in the state to perceive the electioneering process and its outcomes as one of no victor, no vanquished.
