Executive Secretary, Kwara State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Doctor Nusirat Elelu has called on Community Health Practitioners to be professional in the discharge of their duties
Doctor Elelu made the call today while receiving National Vice President, National Association of Community Health Practitioners of Nigeria, North Central Zone, Comrade Isiaka-Musa who paid an Advocacy Visit in Ilorin, the State Capital
Represented by Director, Personnel, Finance and Supply of the Agency, Mr Ajide Olayioye harped on strict adherence to ethical standard by Community Health Practitioners to engender efficient services
The Executive Secretary, urged Association to always in contact with members with effective communication to guide them on the need to understand their work schedules to achieve overall objectives
Also Speaking, Director Primary Health Services of the Agency, Doctor Michael Oguntoye expressed concern over proliferation of College of Health Science and Technology in the state and reiterated the need to checkmate the act to reduce quackery to its lowest ebb
Doctor Oguntoye tasked the association to submit the list of accredited institutions that train Community Health by Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria to the Agency to enable the agency track and shutdown unauthorized institutions in the state
In her contribution, Director Community Health Services of the Agency, Hajia Rukayat Ayodeji welcomed Comrade Muhammad Isiaka-Musa to the state and said the Executive Secretary has designed an all inclusive model to address emerging challenges bedeviling all categories of primary health workers in the state
Earlier, National Vice President, North Central Zone, National Association of Community Health Practitioners of Nigeria, Comrade Muhammad Siaka Musa beseeched the state government to prioritize recruitment of more Community Health Practitioners in primary healthcare centers in both rural and urban areas to meet demands of the growing population.
Comrade Isiaka-Musa pointed out that the staffing of primary healthcare facilities would not only enhance accessibility and quality healthcare services but alleviate the burden on existing healthcare workers to allow them perform their duties more effectively
The National Vice President who drew the attention of the State Primary Healthcare Development Agency to the proliferation of College Health Science and Technology in the Country, charged the state government to address glaring issue of gross shortage of Community Health Practitioners that severely hampers ability to deliver adequate healthcare services, especially to the remote communities where the need is most critical as current workforce is overstretched.
Similarly the National Vice President also paid a courtesy call on the office of Head of Service and solicited for the promotion of licensed Community Health Practitioners who have acquired on-the job experience and obtained degrees in public health given close relationship between public health and community health
Comrade Isiaka-Musa appreciated Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for recruiting Community Health Practitioners in 2022 and described the initiative as crucial towards strengthening the foundation of healthcare system
Responding, Acting State Head of Service and Permanent Secretary, Establishment and Training, Alhaji Muhammed Ibrahim intimated the National Officer of the state government determination in ensuring effective professional and career progression of health personnel devoid of stagnation
Also, at office of State Civil Service Commission, Chairman of the Commission, Hajia Habibatu Yusuf granted audience to the National Vice President, North Central Zone of National Association Community Health Practitioners of Nigeria and his entourage where they had a fruitful deliberations on germane issues with his members
Zonal Technical Officer, North Central, Hajia Maryam Imam-Bashir in her submission at the critical engagements emphasized that the Community Health Association and Board would not rest on their oars in correcting abnormalities among the practitioners
On the entourage with the National Vice President,NACHPN, North Central Zone were Former Registrar, CHPRBN, Alhaji Adebayo Muhammed, Zonal Technical Officer, North Central, Hajia Maryam Imam-Bashir, Ebenezer Kuranga, Mr Muhammed Ibrahim, First Vice Chairman, NACHPN, Mallam Abdulganiyu Yusuf, State Secretary, Kwara Chapter NACHPN, Alhaji Jimoh Ibrahim and Comrade Abdullahi Oladimeji Dauda who is the Admin Sec NACHPN, Kwara State Chapter
