Rising squash star and Nigeria’s No. 2 female player, Isaac Blessing, has once again brought glory to Kwara State and the nation at large, emerging as one of the standout athletes at the ongoing “Gateway Games 2024” – the 22nd edition of the National Sports Festival being held in Ogun State.
Blessing, a proud alumna of Kwara State University (KWASU), delivered a stellar performance in the squash event, clinching two gold medals (in the team event and doubles) and a silver medal (in the singles category), further cementing her reputation as one of Nigeria’s most consistent squash champions.
Speaking after her remarkable feat, Blessing expressed heartfelt gratitude to God for her achievements and current national ranking, but emphasized her hunger for global recognition:
“I thank God for helping me reach the No. 2 position in Nigeria, but my dream is to break into the world rankings. I’m ready to give it everything it takes—mentally, physically, and spiritually. I’m determined and focused.”
She also took time to appreciate the unwavering support of the Kwara State Governor, His Excellency Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, whose commitment to sports development continues to inspire athletes across the state.
“Our Governor has always supported us, and we know he’ll be even happier to receive our medals. He has blessed us before and continues to do so—we’re truly grateful,” she said.
