Coach of the Nigerian Flying Eagles, Aliyu Zubair, has made a passionate appeal to parents and guardians to prioritise sound education for their children and wards.
According to him, this will serve as a bulwark against negative influences that may hinder their progress.
Coach Zubair made this appeal during his remarks on ways to support the community school project at the Annual General Meeting of Popo Igbonna Progressive Union (PIPU), held at Alapata Quarters in Ilorin East Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The Coach also urged affluent members of the community to support the school project through donations and scholarships for indigent students.
This, he said, would help eradicate illiteracy in the community.
He commended the current executive members for their efforts and encouraged others to join in.
In a related development, the Vice Chairman of PIPU’s Education Trust Committee, Alhaji Ahmed Idris SMO, expressed gratitude to donors who have contributed to the school project.
He provided a detailed breakdown of the funds generated and expended on the project.
The President of PIPU, Professor Mustapha Yusuf Ismail Orisankoko, noted that the AGM provided an opportunity for the executive, education trust, and technical committees to showcase their work on the school project and appreciate donors. He highlighted the importance of community gatherings during the Ileya festival.
Professor Orisankoko emphasized the need for collective discussion on community development.
He also praised the host, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi, the guest speaker, Coach Aliyu Zubair and all contributors to the event.
The Annual General Meeting featured recitation of the Qur’an, goodwill messages, and donations, showcasing the community’s spirit of unity and cooperation.
