Court of Appeal, Akure Judicial Division, has dismissed the appeal filed by the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Kwara State Branch, and Comrade Yusuf Amuda Salihu, challenging the recognition of the Caretaker Committee by the Kwara State Government.
In a unanimous judgment delivered today, the Court of Appeal held that the National Industrial Court’s judgment in Owerri, which declared the tenure extension of union executives null and void, is binding nationwide.
The Court also submitted that state government acted lawfully by recognizing the caretaker committee, and found no merit in the appellants’ case and awarded a cost of N500,000 against the appellants.
