Civil Society in Malaria Control, Immunization and Nutrition (ACOMIN) has called for stronger collaboration with the Kwara State Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD) Unit to enhance community health outcomes and strengthen disease prevention efforts.
During a visit to the NTD office, ACOMIN Coordinator, Mr. Femi Olatunbosun, emphasized the need for an integrated partnership between both bodies, noting that collaboration would promote effective interventions and better utilization of community structures.
Responding, NTD Program Coordinator, Mrs. Bamigboye Christiana Yemisi, appreciated the ACOMIN team for the initiative and expressed the unit’s willingness to work closely with the organization.
She stressed that building a strong relationship between the NTD Unit and ACOMIN is crucial for achieving sustainable health results.
According to her, mosquito, which is the primary transmitter of malaria, is also responsible for spreading Lymphatic Filariasis; hence, collaboration is key to tackling both diseases effectively.
The partnership between ACOMIN and the NTD Unit aims to strengthen community awareness campaigns, integrated disease control strategies, and coordinated advocacy efforts, ensuring that both malaria and other tropical diseases are addressed through a unified approach at the grassroots level.
