President Bola Tinubu has congratulated veteran journalist and former presidential spokesman, Reuben Abati, on his 60th birthday.
In a statement on Friday, the President described Abati as a versatile public intellectual who has made significant contributions to Nigeria’s media and national discourse.
He highlighted Abati’s work as a columnist, broadcaster, author, and former Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan.
President Tinubu acknowledged Abati’s influence in journalism, academic work, newspaper editorial leadership, and television broadcasting, noting that his commentaries and analyses continue to shape public debate.
The President also commended the launch of Abati’s three new books released in commemoration of his 60th birthday, stating that his creativity and professional contributions have enriched discussions on issues of national interest.
He extended his best wishes to Abati, praying for his continued good health and long life.
Mr Abati, born on November 7, 1965, is a broadcaster on Arise TV and a known columnist.
He previously served as the People’s Democratic Party’s deputy governorship candidate in Ogun State in 2019 and holds a degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Calabar.
Mr Abati is also a senior research associate with the Olusegun Obasanjo Centre for Cultural Studies and the National Open University of Nigeria.
