President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared a nationwide security emergency and ordered an aggressive recruitment drive by the Nigerian Police Force and the Armed Forces to confront escalating insecurity across the country.
A statement issued from the State House on Wednesday said the President directed the police to immediately recruit an additional 20,000 officers, increasing the total planned intake to 50,000 personnel.
As part of measures to fast-track the process, the President also approved the use of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camps as temporary training facilities for the new recruits.
The directive forms part of wider actions by the Federal Government to strengthen internal security, expand manpower capacity, and restore public safety amid rising security challenges nationwide.
