Ilorin-based Ace Journalist, Alhaji Saadudeen Salaudeen has charged broadcast stations in Nigeria to be innovative and creative in delivering quality contents to heterogeneous audience.
Alhaji Salaudeen who is the Senior Adviser and Counselor to Kwara State Governor gave gave this indication while delivering a paper entitled “Excellence Professionalism, The Key to Modern Radio Broadcasting” at the Commissioning of Emirate FM Radio 98.5Â established by Dr Abdulazeez Arowona in Ilorin.
He noted that media outlets must understand their audience preferences and tailor their contents to meet their needs and tasked them to leverage technology to reach new audience.
The Guest Speaker, urged them to develop contents on agriculture, health, security, education and entrepreneurship for effective service delivery and cautioned them against hate speech and disinformation capable igniting uproar in the society.
Alhaji Salaudeen commended Governor AbdulRahaman AbdulRazaq, Chairman, NGF and Sardauna of Ilorin for being the most media friendly Governor in the history of Kwara State.
Alhaji Salaudeen congratulated proprietor of the station and member of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations , (NIPR) Dr. Arowona AbdulAzeez whom he identified as a prolific writer, author and renowned scholar.
According to him, Emirate FM 98.5 is birthed with high sense of patriotism and expectation to consolidate on the gains of the enviable global reputation of Ilorin Emirate as a citadel of learning , creative arts , heroic religious missionary activities and trading spanning over 300 years of proud history.
He pointed out that freedom of speech and press freedom come with high sense of patriotism, obligations and responsibility while no patriot takes pride in disseminating false news and hate speech.
He asked Emirate Radio to disregard unverified information or sheer propaganda to occupy any place in the discharge of its professional responsibility.The Governor’s Aide applauded Dr.Modibo Kawu popularly known then as Lanre Kawu, Dr. Mahamud AbdulRaheem Alhaja Mero Mustapha, Alhaji Muhammed Tunde Akanbi Oriokoh, late Alhaji Yusuf Abubakar, late Alhaji Saka Aleshinloye and late Alhaji Usman Adebayo Durosinlohun for their sterling contributions to broadcast industry in the state.
