The recent decision by the Federal Government and Kwara State Government to temporarily relocate the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to Kwara State Polytechnic Ilorin is a timely and necessary response to the security challenges facing parts of the nation.
As a media practitioner with over two decades of experience in the media industry, I have taken keen interest in the manner in which the present administration in Kwara State, under the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has been projecting and implementing its developmental agenda.
Notably, the Rector of Kwara State Polytechnic, Dr. Abdul Jimoh Muhammad, has consistently projected the achievements of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, particularly as they relate to the growth and transformation of Kwara State Polytechnic.
Dr. Abdul Jimoh Muhammad has also demonstrated unwavering support for the policies and programmes of the Kwara State Government, especially in the education sector and other related areas.
Dr. Abdul Jimoh Muhammad has also demonstrated unwavering support for the policies and programmes of the Kwara State Government, especially in the education sector and other related areas.
Dr. Abdul Jimoh Muhammad has, in many ways, consistently demonstrated his support for the relocation of the NYSC orientation camp to Kwara State Polytechnic, expressing strong confidence in the government’s decision and its overall benefits.
Since the temporary relocation of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp to Kwara State Polytechnic, an initiative warmly welcomed by Dr. Abdul Jimoh Muhammad, he has openly commended the state government for the decision.
According to him, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has the interest and welfare of Nigerians at heart—not only in his capacity as Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, but also because of his strong belief in the power of the youth and his commitment to youth development.
As a concerned citizen, I wholeheartedly support this move, believing it will enhance the safety of our young corps members and contribute to the overall stability and development of the country.
The NYSC programme is a vital component of our nation’s development, fostering unity, national integration, and providing young graduates with opportunities to serve their country.
The programme has been instrumental in shaping the lives of millions of Nigerians, inculcating in them a sense of patriotism, discipline, and social responsibility.
However, the security concerns in some regions have made it imperative to take proactive measures to safeguard our youth.
The safety of our corps members should be our top priority, and this relocation demonstrates the government’s commitment to protecting them.
Kwara State, known for its peaceful environment, cultural heritage, and strategic location, offers an ideal alternative for the relocation.
The State Polytechnic has a proven track record of hosting national events and providing a conducive environment for learning and growth.
The relocation will not only ensure the security of the corps members but also bring economic benefits to the area, creating opportunities for local businesses, communities, and entrepreneurs.
The influx of young corps members will inject new energy into the local economy, stimulating growth and development.
This relocation will also promote cultural exchange and understanding between the corps members and the local community, fostering greater national unity and cohesion.
The presence of NYSC will attract investments in infrastructure, including housing, roads, and amenities, benefiting both the corps members and the local community.
The local government’s healthcare facilities will also receive a boost, with the corps members bringing in new medical personnel and equipment.
I commend the Federal Government and Kwara State Government for their swift action in addressing the security concerns and finding a solution that benefits both the corps members and the state.
This decision demonstrates their commitment to the welfare of our youth and the development of the nation.
I also appreciate the efforts of the NYSC management in ensuring a smooth transition and minimizing disruptions to the program.
I urge all stakeholders, including the media, civil society organizations, and the general public, and students in particular to support this initiative.
Let us rally behind this decision and work together to ensure its success. By prioritizing the safety of our youth, we are investing in the future of our nation.
The relocation of NYSC to Kwara State Polytechnic Ilorin is a win-win situation for all parties involved.
It ensures the security of our corps members, promotes national unity, and contributes to the economic development of the new area.
I hope this relocation sets a precedent for addressing security challenges and promoting national development.
I believe this decision will have far-reaching benefits for our nation, and I urge all Nigerians to join me in supporting this initiative.
Students, and the Kwara State Polytechnic, let’s welcome our NYSC corps members with open arms! They’re Nigerians, just like us – many are Kwarans, and some are even our former classmates.
The situation that brought them here is something we all should be concerned about, but let’s not make it a reason for tension.
These young people were posted to our state, and they’re seeing us as their brothers and sisters. Let’s show them love, kindness, and hospitality. Let’s make them feel at home, and let’s all coexist peacefully.
