Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has publicly declared his support for the Rainbow Coalition, endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term, and backed Kingsley Chinda as his preferred governorship candidate in the state.

Governor Fubara made the declaration today during the groundbreaking and foundation-laying ceremony of the Rivien Medical Industry project in Rumuosi, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

In a video of his remarks circulated on social media, the governor said he had returned to his political family and urged his supporters to align with the Rainbow Coalition, a political alliance led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Declaring for Tinubu’s second-term bid, Governor Fubara said, President Ahmed Bola Tinubu is the President, and he is the one they are supporting.

He added, “Oke Chinda is the Governorship candidate that he is supporting as anybody who believes in him will support every candidate that is under the rainbow.

Appealing to his loyalists to stop waiting for political appointments or benefits before joining the coalition, Governor Fubara said he had already reconciled with Wike’s political camp.

The Governor also cautioned supporters against using his name to promote political activities outside the coalition.

Governor Fubara’s remarks come months after he withdrew from the All Progressives Congress’s primaries in May 2026, citing deep reflection and consultations.

The withdrawal came after he and Wike publicly reconciled following a prolonged political crisis that polarised Rivers State.

Rainbow Coalition is a cross-party alliance encompassing APC loyalists, factions of the Peoples Democratic Party, and other political groups aligned with Tinubu.
