Medical Practitioner, Professor Habeeb Omokanye has cautioned Nigerians against indiscriminate ear scrubbing.
Professor Omokanye who is of University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, gave the caution while delivering a lecture at this year’s Get-together of National League of Veteran Journalists, NALVEJ, Kwara State Chapter held at NUJ Press Centre, Ilorin.
He noted that perpetual ear scrub with biro covers, toothpicks, cuttonwool and other harmful tools are capable of causing infections and total discomfort in the ear.
Dwelling on physiology of speech, the Medical Expert enjoined journalists to be mindful of their voices and vocal health to guard against complications.
He identified stress as a common health challenge peculiar to journalists and advocated constant comprehensive medical tests to ensure early detection and treatment of ailments.
The Medical Practitioner implored journalists to refrain from Alcohol, cigarette and local concoction intake to insulate them against cancer of the lungs and other related diseases.
