Kwara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has expressed grief over the passing of Mr Layi Olanrewaju, The Sun Newspapers’ Correspondent in Kwara State, who died after a brief illness on Friday morning.
In a Condolence issued by the Council Secretary, Mahmood Olayinka Alaya, on behalf of the council, the NUJ described the transition of Olanrewaju, a former Chairman of Correspondents’ Chapel
as shocking, devastating, and a colossal loss to the journalism profession.
The Council noted that he was a dedicated, hard working, and committed journalist whose contributions to the growth of the profession and the correspondents’ chapel will be fondly remembered.
The Council prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul and extended heartfelt condolences to members of his household, friends, and colleagues, as well as members of the pen profession, particularly his associates in the correspondents’ chapel.
It urged them to take solace in the impactful life he lived and the legacy of professionalism he bequeathed to the new generation of pen pushers.
The NUJ also prayed that God grants his wife, children, and the entire family the strength and comfort to bear this irreparable loss and gives them the fortitude to navigate this difficult period.
