Kwara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has expressed sorrow over the passing of the Head of Tiwa ‘N’ Tiwa FM Station, Ijagbo, Mr Yemi Zubair.

Zubair breathed his last at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital on Saturday evening.

In a statement jointly signed by the Council Chairman, Abdullateef ‘Lanre Ahmed, and Secretary, Mahmood Olayinka Alaya, the Union described Zubair’s death as shocking and a colossal loss to the media profession in Kwara and beyond.

The NUJ noted that the late Zubair, an accomplished broadcaster and former Manager of Programmes with Kwara State Broadcasting Corporation (Radio Kwara), was a dedicated professional who made immense contributions to the growth and development of the media industry, especially as an active and respected member of the National League of Veteran Journalists in the state.

According to the statement, Zubair’s passion for journalism, commitment to excellence, and mentorship of younger broadcasters earned him widespread admiration among colleagues and associates.

His legacy, the Union added, will continue to inspire generations of media practitioners.

The Council extended its heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, NALVEJ and associates of the deceased, as well as the entire media community in Kwara State, over the irreparable loss.

The NUJ prayed to the Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings, accept his return as a true servant, and grant him Al-janat firdaus, while also praying for strength and comfort for the bereaved.
