Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has withdrawn from the All Progressives Congress gubernatorial primaries ahead of the 2027 elections.

In a statement today Governor Fubara said the decision followed “deep reflection and extensive consultations” with family, friends, and associates.

He said he would support whoever emerges as the APC candidate.

The Governor said leadership requires sacrifice and that personal ambition must give way to the greater good of Rivers State.

He stressed that peace, stability, and unity of the state must take precedence over individual interests.

Governor Fubara thanked his supporters for their loyalty and sacrifices, acknowledging their disappointment. He said his silence in recent weeks was deliberate and guided by the higher interest of the state.

He also expressed appreciation to the APC for the platform and to President Bola Tinubu for his support and encouragement.

The Governor said he stepped aside not out of weakness, fear, or surrender, but out of conviction and sacrifice to ensure Rivers State moves forward in peace and unity.

He added that he remains committed to serving the people of Rivers State until the end of his term.
