Nigeria Computer Society, NCS, Kwara State Chapter, has congratulated Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on his turbaning as the Sardauna of Ilorin by the Emir of Ilorin, His Royal Highness Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR.
In a Congratulatory Message jointly signed by its Chairman, Engr. Taofik Abdulkareem and Secretary, Dr. James Kehinde Ayeni, the Society said the honour acknowledges the Governor’s public service and contributions to the development of Ilorin Emirate and Kwara State.
As the umbrella body of information technology professionals in Nigeria, the NCS said that it has noted the administration’s commitment to ICT, innovation and technology-driven public service delivery.
A flagship initiative highlighted by the Society is the Ilorin Innovation Hub, which provides facilities, digital skills training, mentorship, incubation and acceleration for innovators and entrepreneurs.
The body noted that through partnerships with IHS Nigeria, Co-Creation Hub, Future Africa and other partners, the Hub has showcased 19 startups, facilitated about N119 million in non-dilutive funding and is currently training 171 emerging artificial intelligence engineers.
On education, the NCS maintained that the Kwara Coding and Digital Literacy Programme has grown from about 700 students in six centres to over 5,800 students across 54 public schools in the 16 local government areas of the state.
It added that the KwaraLEARN programme has also introduced digital tools and data into lesson delivery, teacher support, attendance monitoring and school administration to improve learning outcomes.
The Society further commended the digitization of teacher recruitment and promotion exercises for TESCOM and SUBEB through online applications, e-document submission, automated screening and Computer-Based Tests across the three senatorial districts. It also cited the digitization of BECE and Basic Six placement examinations.
Other interventions recognized include digital land administration through KW-GIS, the residents’ database and State Security Identification number under KWASRRA, support for broadband infrastructure, and entrepreneurship support through Kwapreneur.
The NCS encouraged the state government to consolidate the gains through wider broadband access, stronger cybersecurity and data protection, greater digital inclusion and sustained support for indigenous technology companies.
It prayed for wisdom, strength and good health for Governor AbdulRazaq as he continues to serve Ilorin Emirate, Kwara State and Nigeria.
