President Bola Tinubu has approved the long-awaited Ibom Deep Seaport project in Akwa Ibom State.

Tinubu announced the approval on Friday while responding to a request by Governor Umo Eno at a reception and rally organised in his honour at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.

The President, who was in the state to inaugurate projects executed by the Eno administration, said the proposed seaport must promote inclusive development, create economic value and improve the lives of residents.

He said the request had been presented to him by the governor on behalf of the people and leadership of Akwa Ibom State.

Tinubu subsequently sought the audience’s response to the request, asking whether they would vote, before indicating his approval of the project.

The development followed Governor Eno’s pledge that Akwa Ibom State would deliver two million votes for Tinubu.
