Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, says Rivers State has resolved to vote for President Bola Tinubu in the January 16, 2027 presidential election.
Wike made the declaration on Saturday while welcoming Tinubu to the Rainbow Coalition presidential campaign rally at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.
He told the President that the state had already agreed to support his re-election, claiming that the rally attracted residents from within Rivers State without mobilisation from other states.
Wike attributed the support to what he described as Tinubu’s commitment to Rivers State, citing federal projects and political appointments given to indigenes of the state.
He specifically mentioned the completion of the Bonny-Bodo Road, the establishment of the Federal University of Environment in Ogoniland and at least 47 political appointments for Rivers indigenes.
The FCT Minister, who coordinates Tinubu’s presidential campaign in Rivers, also challenged former governor Rotimi Amaechi to account for projects and financial transactions during his administration.
Meanwhile, Director-General of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, Abdulaziz Yari, set a target of at least 2.3 million votes for Tinubu in Rivers State.
Governor Siminalayi Fubara also pledged to mobilise three million votes for the President, assuring him of the coalition’s support in the state.
The rally was organised by the Rainbow Coalition, a political alliance led by Wike to mobilise support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.
