Hon. Ahmad Muhammad, popularly known as Dan Masani Gwanabe and founder of the Mai Nasara Foundation, has formally declared his intention to contest for the Kwara State House of Assembly seat representing Kaiama Constituency 1 in the 2027 general elections.
The declaration, held on Wednesday in Kaiama, attracted the All Progressives Congress political stakeholders, youth groups, women associations, and community leaders from Adena, Bani, Gwanabe, and Gwaria wards.
Addressing supporters at the event, Muhammad said his decision to enter the race followed months of consultations across the constituency, during which he engaged widely on the development and security challenges facing the area.
He said the demand for more responsive and people-centred representation informed his decision to join the race.
Muhammad noted that despite the constituency’s agricultural potential and youthful population, development would require deliberate leadership and structured governance.
He outlined his agenda to include economic empowerment for farmers and small-scale entrepreneurs, improved access to education, and inclusive governance for youth and women.
The Aspirant urged constituents to judge him based on performance rather than political promises.
Earlier, a grassroots youth coalition, the Kaiama Constituency 1 Youth Movement, had endorsed Muhammad for the 2027 election, describing him as a unifying figure with a strong record of community engagement.
Speaking on behalf of the group, its coordinator, Comrade Abubakar Abdulgafar, said the endorsement followed extensive consultations across the constituency.
The Group described him as a philanthropist and grassroots mobiliser whose humanitarian efforts through the Mai Nasara Foundation have impacted vulnerable groups across the constituency.
It also expressed confidence in his development blueprint, noting that his agenda aligns with the aspirations of the constituency.
The Group further pledged mobilisation support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The event also featured a donation of ₦1 million by Muhammad to the families of the five slain forest guards and injured victims, as a show of support and solidarity with those affected by the attack.
The donation comes at the right time amid growing concerns over insecurity in Kaiama Local Government Area following a recent attack on Nuku village, where suspected bandits killed five forest guards and injured others while on duty.
The slain guards were part of local security efforts protecting rural communities and farmlands from criminal activities.
Community members and political supporters expressed optimism that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would secure victory in Kwara State in the 2027 election cycle, citing growing grassroots mobilisation and renewed political engagement across the state.
