Kwara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has commiserated with the Regional Editor of the Leadership Newspapers, Alhaji Abdullahi Hanafi Olesin, over the death of his mother, Alhaja Munirat Hanafi Imam Olesin.
Alhaja Munirat Olesin died today at the age of 87.
In a Condolence statement issued by the state NUJ Secretary, Mahmood Olayinka Alaya, on behalf of the Chairman, Ahmed ‘Lanre Abdullateef, and other members of the union, the council expressed its sympathy with the bereaved family.
The Union particularly commiserated with Alhaji Abdullahi Hanafi Olesin, who is a member of the NUJ and the Public Relations Officer of the National League of Veteran Journalists.
The Kwara NUJ described the death of Alhaja Munirat Olesin as a painful loss to the family, praying that Almighty Allah would grant the bereaved the fortitude to bear the loss.
The Council also prayed to Allah to forgive the deceased’s shortcomings, accept her good deeds, and grant her Aljanat Firdaus.
The Union extended its heartfelt condolences to the Olesin family, praying for comfort and strength for them in this moment of grief. Meanwhile, the Janazah for the deceased will hold at 2pm today (Wednesday) at Olesin Compound, Okelele Area of Ilorin.

The deceased was the mother of Alhaji Abdullahi Hanafi Olesin, North-Central Regional Editor of Leadership Newspapers and former Editor of The Herald Newspapers.
The Janazah prayer will be held today, Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 2:00 pm promptly at Olesin Compound.
