- A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Dr Ladan Salihu, has alleged that about 800 billion naira in Federation Account Allocation Committee, FAAC, funds has been diverted towards preparations for the 2027 general elections.
Salihu made the allegation during an interview with ARISE News, claiming that the figures were obtained from World Bank-related reports and sources within government.
He said the party had credible sources within the government and called for a forensic audit to establish the facts surrounding the alleged diversion.
The ADC chieftain urged the Federal Government to provide full disclosure on the handling of Federation Account funds, arguing that Nigerians deserved an explanation amid the country’s economic challenges.
He maintained that the party was not making baseless allegations, adding that it would compile and present supporting evidence.
Salihu also dismissed suggestions that the ADC was exploiting public hardship for political advantage, saying the party had a comprehensive manifesto and was prepared to offer transparent leadership if elected in 2027.
He said the party would prioritise economic reforms, job creation and efforts to reduce poverty and the number of out-of-school children.
Salihu further expressed confidence in the party’s leadership, insisting that it had the personnel and capacity to govern the country.
