President Bola Tinubu has urged Nigerian youths to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate in the 2027 general elections, saying the outcome would shape their future.
Tinubu made the appeal on Saturday at the Rainbow Coalition presidential campaign rally held at the Adekoiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Addressing the crowd, the President said the election was not about his personal ambition but the future of young Nigerians, urging those yet to collect their PVCs to do so.
He described the voter card as a tool for determining the country’s leadership and called on youths to use it to make their voices heard.
Tinubu also identified economic development as a means of tackling poverty, saying his administration was working to improve the economy and extend prosperity to more Nigerians.
He claimed that his government was clearing outstanding pension and gratuity arrears inherited from previous administrations, citing retired engineers, welders and teachers among those receiving payments.
The rally was organised by the Rainbow Coalition, a political alliance led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to mobilise support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.
The coalition comprises politicians and supporters from different parties, including the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party. It had earlier endorsed Tinubu for a second term and unveiled candidates it supports for elective positions in Rivers State.
Tinubu’s appearance at the rally comes amid political engagements ahead of the 2027 general elections. He had earlier launched his re-election campaign in Kaduna State on October 24.
