L-PRES Trains 8th Batch Of Extension Agents, Farmers On Small Ruminants, Feed Production

Kwara State Government has said the training of Extension Agents and Farmers on Small Ruminants Production and Crop Residue Processing will increase livestock production, improve food security, and create job opportunities for the people in the state.
State Project Coordinator, Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES), Mr. Olusoji Oyawoye stated this at a Closing Ceremony of a 5-Day Training for one hundred Extension Agents and Farmers on Small Ruminants Production and Crop Residue Processing for Improved Utilization by Ruminants organised by the Synergy Impact Consultant Limited.
The Coordinator, represented by the Project Extension Officer, Mr Nureni AbdulRasaq explained that the training covered a wide range of topics, from the basics of small ruminants production to the importance of crop residue processing for a sustainable livestock feed.
He appreciated both the management of Synergy Impact Consultant Limited and facilitators for working tirelessly at ensuring that participants gained the basic knowledge and skills on good animal husbandry practices with a view to replicating it in their respective communities.
Mr. Oyawoye disclosed that the completion of additional 100 Extension Agents and Farmers Capacity Building, has brought the total number of the trainees to eight hundred.
Earlier, the Lead facilitator, Dr. Akeem Ajeigbe disclosed that the Kwara State government through the L-PRES Project had engaged experts to train farmers on modern farming techniques to strengthen their efficiency and improve productivity in the livestock sector of the State.
While commending the State government, Dr. Ajeigbe enjoined the participants to spread the knowledge gained during the training to drive Nigeria’s livestock industry forward.
On her part, the Project Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Mrs. Kudirat Zubair-Oyewo said the training would help in achieving accelerated transformation in livestock production in the State and the Country at large.
Speaking on behalf of the participants, Dr. Abdul-Jimoh Muhammed thanked Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for giving Kwarans the opportunity to learn a lot of business opportunities in Ruminants production.
