The initiative comes against the backdrop of rapid technological changes currently reshaping the media industry.
The workshop, themed “Artificial Intelligence: Is Journalism on Trial?”, is designed to examine the growing influence of AI on news gathering, content creation, media ethics, and the future of the journalism profession.
Participants will be guided through the technical aspects of the training by a software development and IT solutions expert, Engineer Taofiq AbdulKareem of Plat Technologies Limited, and Kamaldeen Kehinde, co-founder of MALhub, a technology hub that supports digital skills training, product development, and community building.
The workshop will draw participants from all chapels of the Union across the state.
In a statement, the State Council Secretary, Mahmood Olayinka Alaya, said the programme will hold at the Conference Hall of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Kwara State Council, and is scheduled to commence at noon.
According to the statement, the workshop aims to equip journalists with relevant knowledge and practical insights needed to navigate the opportunities and challenges presented by artificial intelligence in modern media practice.
The statement added that Certificates of participation will be issued to all journalists who attend the training.
