Team Kwara has asserted its dominance in Squash at the ongoing 22nd National Sports Festival in Abeokuta, Ogun State, by clinching six medals three gold and three silver to top the medals table in the event.
This remarkable feat cements Kwara’s position as the best-performing state in Squash at the festival.
Reacting to the development, Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Coach Bola Mogaji, hailed the athletes for their dedication and described the victory as a testament to unwavering commitment and hard work.
Speaking to journalists at the Alake Sports Centre, Mogaji, himself a veteran coach and former Squash athlete, attributed the achievement to the renewed focus, resilience, and determination of both the athletes and their coaches.
He assured that the Commission would intensify training for young players across the state while continuing to nurture its top athletes, stating that Kwara has deep roots in Squash.
Coach Mogaji hinted at a new strategy for future festivals and suggested that the Commission might focus on quality over quantity.
