Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment towards the welfare, protection, and rights of children in the state.
Governor Abdulrazaq dropped this hint in his message to this year’s Children’s Day celebration held at Rashidi Yekini Main Bowl, George Innih Stadium Complex, Ilorin.
Represented by the Commissioner for Special Duties in the State, Mr John Bello advocated more safer and supportive environment for every child to enable them realize their full potentials.
Governor Abdulrazaq maintained that the safety, growth, and well-being of the children are non-negotiable.
He condemned bullying of children and emphasized the need for government, families and communities to work together curb the menace in the society.
Also, Speaking, a representative of the First Lady of the state, Ambassador Olufolake Abdulrazaq, Dr Mariam Nnafatima Imam also called for eradication of bullying among children and wards.
Ambassador Abdulrazaq praised the Ministry of Women Affairs for organizing the event themed: “Stand Up, Speak Up: Building a Bullying-Free Generation.”
She emphasized the need to create inclusive, nurturing spaces where children can thrive without fear.
In her welcome address, Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Afolashade Opeyemi Oluwakemi, described the celebration as a vital opportunity to reaffirm society’s commitment to children’s rights and development.
The event featured school children from across the state, members of the Kwara State Children’s Parliament, parents, NGOs, and other stakeholders.
The Children’s day celebration was laced with parades, cultural presentations, and moving messages from children reinforcing the call for a society free from bullying fear and abuse.
