Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has approved a cash reward of ₦5 million for Bolaji Mariam Eniola, the Kwara-born Para-badminton star who made history by winning Nigeria’s first medal at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
This is contained in a statement by the Press Secretary, Kwara State Sports Commission, Saheed Abdullahi, in Ilorin.
Similarly, the governor has fulfilled his earlier pledge by approving ₦5 million for each player of Kwara United Football Club, in recognition of their triumphant campaign in the 2024/2025 President Federation Cup.
The approvals were confirmed by the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Mallam Bolakale Adisa Mogaji
Mallam Mogaji applauded the governor for consistently backing his words with action and for placing a high premium on celebrating excellence in sports.
According to him, Governor Abdulrazaq has once again demonstrated that commitment to sports goes beyond rhetoric, promised and delivered.
He said the players of Kwara United have been rewarded for their Federation Cup success, and Eniola has been honoured for her outstanding international achievement.
Also, Bolaji Mariam Eniola, who won a medal in the women’s singles SL3 category at the 2024 Paralympics, continues to serve as a role model and source of inspiration for athletes across Nigeria.
Kwara United’s Federation Cup victory marks a defining moment in the club’s history and further underscores the resurgence of football in the state under the current administration.
Recently, the governor hosted and rewarded all medalists, along with their coaches and secretaries, who represented Kwara State at the National Sports Festival tagged “Gateway Games 2024,” held in Ogun State.
Governor AbdulRazaq’s gesture has been widely praised as a morale booster and a reflection of his administration’s genuine commitment to the welfare and recognition of athletes at all levels.
