Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria has described condemnation to death of Hafsat Yetunde Lawal killer, Abdulrahman Bello by hanging as appropriate and line with principle of Shar’iah that forbids killing of innocent souls.
Reacting to the judgement in a statement today, a Non-Governmental Organization dedicated to peace, stability and good governance in the Country, Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria, commended Kwara State Judiciary for the holistic judicial process with which the case was handled.
The Group applauded Kwara State Judiciary for delivering a landmark judgement on recent murder incident committed in Ilorin the Kwara State capital.
In a strongly-worded statement signed by the National Coordinator of the Group, Alhaji Abdullahi Ibrahim, the Group hailed the Security Operatives for their quick investigation of the case which resulted in discreet and efficient prosecution of the accused that led to early completion of the trial.
The Media Group seized the opportunity of this conviction by calling on all evil-doers to learn a lesson from this judgement and desist from evil deeds as Almighty Allah is capable of exposing them for purnishment here and hereafter.
It maintained that the confession of the accused to the crime before and during the trial actually hastened the conclusion of the case praising the Lawyers that prosecuted the case as well the Lawyers who stood for the Muslim Ummah that the criminal elimination of Hafsat Lawal must not go unpunished as justice must be served quickly and appropriately.
MMWG therefore appealed specially to the Executive Governor of Kwara State Mal. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq not to delay the signing of the death warrant of convicted criminal, which the Group believe, would serve as deterrent to other evil-minded people in the State in particular and Nigeria as a whole.
The Media Group noted that insecurity is striving in Nigeria due some criminal acts had not attracted deserved punishments as lack of consequences for criminalities would continue to make the Nation unsafe not only to Nigerians but also to the International Community.
The Group described murder as one of the worst crimes Allah promised to purnish here and hereafter and admonishing the parents and family of the departed Hafsat Yetunde Lawal to take solace in the fact that justice will prevail over the criminal killing of their daughter.
It would be recalled that Ilorin High Court Judge, Hon. Justice Hannah Olushola Ajayi last week Thursday condemned to death one Abdulrahman Bello for killing a student of Kwara State College of Education Ilorin Miss Hafsat Yetunde Lawal about few months ago.
The sad incident of killing innocent Hafsat Lawal, was one of the worst criminal scenarios ever recorded in the City of Ilorin the Kwara State capital that is well-respected as an islamic citadel of learning and scholarship.
